Clothing Banks…One of the ways that we generate funds for our work around the world is through collecting old yet usable clothing garments, shoes and handbags. Recovery and recycling provide both environmental and economic benefits. Textile recovery reduces the need for landfill space.
Textiles present particular problems in landfill as synthetic (man-made fibers) products will not decompose, while woolen garments do decompose and produce methane, which contributes to global warming.

SMT has successfully been running its clothing bank project since 2006. Clothing banks have proven to be a significant resource in raising money for our charity. All the money raised through the sales of your donated clothes is used for our various projects and campaigns. All the information for these projects could be found on this website. This means that Alhamdulillah SMT can maintain its 100% donation policy.

We have over 150 clothing banks in the UK. The number of clothing banks that we have distributed around the UK is increasing. Not only are we encouraging people to donate their unwanted clothes, but we are also appealing for you to help us accommodate clothing banks in your area. When donating clothes via our clothing banks, could you please ensure that efforts are made to wash and iron the garments donated to help maximise their value, therefore gaining you more reward.

SMT is in need for all kinds of unwanted clothes. From coats, dresses, jeans and shirts to shoes, handbags, nightwear and blankets. We recycle and reuse almost any kind of clothing so please donate your garments generously. If you have bags of clothes (minimum 10 bin bags)
